So I'm at work the other day. Me and the dudes that were there that morning are having a discussion about football. The discussion goes from regular football talk to all the convicts of the sport(Plexico, Stallworth, J. Lewis, R. Lewis, etc). So J. Lewis apparently was arrested and never touched the drugs(he changed his mind and was still booked, WTF) and Plexico shot himself and almost got away wit it because the police didn't even know about the shooting 'til days later(Some bitch probably called in on his ass). So we like damn, kinda some BS, then we get to talking bout Lil Wayne(currently in Riker’s Island) and how it's one of the worst jails to go to. So one person is like, "Yo, if I went there I'd faint, first off, I'm fainting if I'm going to any jail, but if I'm going there, I'm fainting to death(LOL)". He then starts talking bout this old show that use to come on TV when he was a teen(He is like 38/39 years old). The show is called Scared Straight, and aired late night without any editing. So Scared Straight is basically a show which troubled teenagers would be gathered together and taken to prison for a "reality check". On the show, the teens are cursed at, threatened, and shitted on over and over by inmates who dont plan on leaving. One inmate told one of the teens, "I got 30 years in hear, if I slap the shit outta you, what they gon do, add more years to my sentence, yeah like I would give a fuck"(some shit like that). Truthfully, these inmates really didnt have anything to lose, they really could have done whatever the fuck they wanted, they were already "under the jail". One nigga said, "I got Life and from now on".....WTF!!! Another said "I can't tell you what birds chirping sound like, i can't tell you what dogs barking sound like, shit, I can't tell you what a car horn sound like, but I can tell you what a grown man sounds like when he screaming cuz he getting stabbed up, I can tell you what it sounds like for a grown man to scream cuz 4 dudes is fucking him in his ass.....WTF. YEAH IM GOOD ON THE OUTSIDE. Now word is that only one of the kids were arrested after that. Good turnout if you ask me.
Now my question is, with the kids we got today, do you think this shame shit would work on kids the same age. Now days, by the time a kid gets to be 12-14, he/she might already have a body or two. Do you really think this same shit would fly, I don't. I mean the kid would probably get his shit split. But I don't really think that intimidation shit would work all that well now days. What do you have to say?

I havent been on the show but I did attend one of those "gatherings" when I was in the 9th grade. All I'm going to say is that we all came out of that motherfucker with a new outlook on life.
ReplyDeleteAt the end of the day, I'd have to say that this shit MAY be effective on today's youth but its highly unlikely. You have kids catching bodies and fucking at 11-12 years old so I doubt it. Real talk.
